TSL 641 : Introduction

  1. I go with the name Norhaslinda Binti Muhamadin. I was born on 3rd of January and have just turned 23 early this year. I am from Kota Tinggi, Johor. Coming from a small family of 5, I am the only precious daughter of the house.
  2.   I would rate myself as a novice user. I do think I know enough basic to get by this degree course but I really need to upgrade my computer literacy skills in order to survive TSL641.
  3.  I know how to use basic software like Microsoft Office especially Words and maybe a little bit of Excel. I also well accustomed with some of the media software like Movie Maker, Audacity and Picassa and I’ve just realized how easy to use Photoscape recently. Theoretically, I am well aware of the computer hardware.
  4.  I have experienced learning via the computer inside or outside of the classroom. Some of the website I have used are "padlet.com" and of course, the i-learn site. I have also come across "Glogster".
  5. I have tried to incorporate technology in some of my lessons during practicum. I used videos as a set induction and songs as part of listening lesson as well as their exercise. The first and only time I showed videos in class received somewhat in the middle response. I had difficulty finding a suitable room to display the video and later on setting up the portable LCD.
  6. I really think incorporating computer and technology in classroom is a very good idea. As we are handling the Z-Generation who grow up with IT and modern gadgets, we need to catch up with them. Only then, we can grab their attention. I've experienced this myself; the students were hyped up whenever the topic related to technology is brought up.
  7. I expect this class to be very helpful for future teachers to prepare a creative and interactive activity in class.
  8. The title of my AE is "Video Watching Strategies in Learning Vocabulary among High and Low Proficiency Groups of Form 2 ESL Students in SMK Lokman Hakim." My supervisor is Madam Leele Susana. In order to complete the AE, I've divided my works into several stages or blocks. The first stage is completing Chapter 1-3. The second block is collecting data. The third block is reporting and analyzing data while the fourth stage is the writing process. The final block or stage is submitting the final draft. So far, I've only covered the first block. I've calculated how much time I should spent on each stage and hopefully, I'll be able to complete my AE in time.
